Translating Software: localization and internationalization

Globalization Partners International (GPI) provides software translation, localization and internationalization services in over 75 languages. GPI follows a 15-step process when localizing a software application. This also includes the translation and localization of a software's online Help system.

Software localization projects are completed by professional, native-speaker L10N teams utilizing state-of-the-art translation memory tools such as Trados, Catalyst, RC WinTrans or client specified translation memory tools.

All projects are assigned a dedicated GPI's Globalization Services Team (GST™) consisting of a project manager, base translators, editors, proofreaders, software engineers, multilingual desktop publishing specialists and QA testers. All teams utilize GPI's Globalization Project Management Suite (GPMS™) to handle all aspects of Project Management and Quality Control.

GPI also offers software internationalization services (I18N) with expertise in a multitude of platforms and programming languages, including: Java, JavaBeans, Enterprise JavaBeans, VB and ASP, XML and ASP, C/C++, Visual Basic, AS/400, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and others.

Finally, GPI has testing services for your software in 3 areas: internationalization testing, localization testing and functionality testing.

GPI's Internationalization (I18N) QA/Testing professionals test the source language product for international support and localizability.

Localization Testing is conducted after your software has been localized. A dedicated GPI Globalization Services Team performs cosmetic and linguistic QA/Testing. The GST team members, typically translators and engineers, review the software in context to check for any linguistic or cosmetic issues.

Functionality Testing occurs after your software has been localized. A dedicated GPI Globalization Services Team performs tests to verify that your application works properly for your target users. Proper platforms, browsers and test scripts are used to ensure the experience of the target user will be as good as if the application was developed specifically for that market.
