New Episerver (Optimizely) App Marketplace

Episerver (Optimizely) recently introduced a new Episerver (Optimizely) App Marketplace, which launched yesterday. In this blog, I will explain how this marketplace is different from the previous one and what it offers to partners and users.

Reasons for Creating a New App Marketplace

Episerver (Optimizely) created the new marketplace to provide customers with more valuable applications and connectors to Episerver (Optimizely)’s systems. Episerver (Optimizely)’s partners have already developed valuable platform extensions and the new marketplace highlights the benefits of these apps and facilitates the integration with the CMS.

For partners, participating in the app marketplace provides a great opportunity to feature the solutions developed to extend or enhance CMS functionality.

Extensions Allowed to Participate

Third Party Marketing Technology Connectors: These connect Episerver (Optimizely) to marketing and ecommerce technologies. For example: payment gateways, email marketing and translation services.

Back-Office Connectors: These connect Episerver (Optimizely) to ERP, CRM and any other back-office systems.

Presentation Layer Enhancements and Applications: These customize Episerver (Optimizely)’s presentation layer by using custom UI frameworks.

Embedded Apps: These applications extend certain modules within the CMS. For example: modifying the functionality of Pages and Blocks.

The Differences Between the Previous Add-on Store and the New App Marketplace

Previous Add-on Store:

  • For Technology Partners only.
  • Focused on integration and connection with other systems.
  • Apps were featured in one single page in the add-on store.

New App Marketplace:

  • For Technology and Solutions Partners.
  • Larger scope to include more product types.
  • The presentation of the extensions has been improved by providing search and category filtering and allows direct communication between the extension owner and Episerver (Optimizely) customer.

Globalization Partners International is an Episerver (Optimizely) Technology Partner and we specialize in the internationalization (i18n) and localization (l10n) of the Episerver (Optimizely) platform. Our Translation Services Connector for Episerver (Optimizely) is one of the first translation solutions to be accepted into the Episerver (Optimizely) App Marketplace.

The GPI Translation Services Connector has for years served to facilitate the translation process of Episerver (Optimizely) content by automating the exportation of content and the importation of the translations. The connector is a lightweight tool, integrated to the dashboard where admins or authors can create localization packages for any number of target languages in just a few clicks.

The content is exported in XLIFF format, which is the standard format for translation recognized by any translation CAT tool. This facilitates the engineering process and reduces the preparation time and cost.
