DeepL is expanding its artificial intelligence infrastructure to support the development of next-generation language and voice AI. On October 20, 2026, VAST Data announced that DeepL is deploying the VAST AI Operating System to support its AI research and development environments. The move is intended to improve data access, increase storage efficiency, and help DeepL scale its language technology as its capabilities continue to evolve.

How VAST Data Will Support DeepL’s Language AI

DeepL - Language AIDeepL’s language AI platform supports written translation and real-time voice translation, serving more than 200,000 business teams and millions of individuals. As the company develops more sophisticated language models and voice-based applications, its research teams need faster, more reliable access to increasingly large and complex datasets.

The VAST AI Operating System will provide DeepL with a unified data platform for file and object storage. According to the announcement, DeepL expects to achieve approximately three times the storage capacity from its existing hardware, allowing its researchers to expand model development without a corresponding increase in physical infrastructure.

The deployment will also help reduce the manual movement of datasets between DeepL’s data centers and, potentially, cloud environments in the future. Improving data accessibility can help researchers work more efficiently as they develop and test new language AI capabilities.

These developments are particularly relevant to DeepL Voice, which brings translation technology into real-time multilingual conversations. Training voice AI presents additional infrastructure challenges because it involves processing and managing more data-intensive workloads than text translation alone.

As language technology continues to advance, improvements in the infrastructure behind AI systems will play an increasingly important role in supporting their development and deployment.

DeepL is just one of the artificial intelligence language platforms GPI supports. GPI offers workflows and integration to industry leading LLM’s including OpenAI, Google Gemini, Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Azure, DeepL and a range of NMT engines assisting clients in selecting the best translation platform and program for a company and their content.
