3. Page-Level SEO

4. Meta Data

Title Tags
Title tags are located in the ‘head’ section of the HTML document  of each page on your website. This tag is used to place the title of the website on the very top of the web browser window. Search  engines use title tags to display link in search results.

Title tags is one of the big three  factors for search engines. For effective search rank you need to make sure you use your keywords in each title tag and avoid duplicated title tags across your website.

Meta Tags
HTML meta-tags are page data tags located between the open and closing head tags in the HTML code of a document. The content in these tags is not displayed by the browser like elements within the body section are displayed. Even though meta-tags are not rendered visually, the browser still reads and interprets them, and is able to act upon on them accordingly.
Meta tags are the first thing search engines read on your page and that’s why it is very important to use a web content management system (WCMS) like Ektron.

Ektron allows you to define your own meta-data definitions within the work-area (Settings > Configurations > Metadata Definition):

Ektron features allow you to optimize the website meta description. This tag provides the basic description about the website as well as helps determine page ranking and indexing. The content supplied in this tag is what you usually sees in the search engine results (SERPS).

Meta-Tag Keywords
Meta-tag Keywords emphasize the terms that describe what the page is about. Some search engines still reads keywords and use it for rank while major search engines like Google doesn’t use keywords tag.

5. URL Aliasing

The term URL is an abbreviation of “Uniform Resource Locator” and is the web address of pages on the internet. It is the “name” by which a browser identifies a page to display. For example, the web address is the URL for the home page of GPI’s blogging web site. Online users can use/share URLs implicitly to locate content on the web.

Ektron’s URL aliasing feature helps content authors create descriptive, meaningful and SEO-friendly URL aliases consistently. Friendly URLs help in maximizing a web site’s placement in search results.
