Kiswahili Language DayKiswahili Language Day has become an annual occasion commemorated every 7th of July after its proclamation by the United Nations member states in 2021 during its 41st session in Paris.

In 2022, the language was adopted as an official language of the African Union and is among the most spoken languages in Africa with over 200 million speakers.

To mark 2024 World Kiswahili Day, The Nation Media Group, a broadcasting company in East Africa in partnership with Maseno University, will host a conference and an expo to commemorate World Kiswahili Day.

The event aims to bring together key industry players and students with the aim to promote the richness and beauty of the Swahili language and culture, while also providing a platform for students, industry players, and the public at large to actively participate and celebrate in appreciation of the diversity of the Kiswahili language.
