RoboHelp features, benefits, and services
Combined with FrameMaker, RoboHelp provides cost-saving single-source publishing for a variety of Help and epubs formats. After FrameMaker documents are translated into the desired target language, our GPI document specialists can swiftly generate Help files in the same target language without further translation.
It is very common for technical documentation to require supporting help files. Whether the help files are in HTML, WebHelp, or some other common format, there is a great advantage to single source publishing, as one set of source files can product both documentation and help files.
Adobe Technical Communication Suite seamlessly integrates FrameMaker with RoboHelp in such a manner that the FrameMaker files can act as source files for generated RoboHelp WebHelp files. Tech Comm Suite will supply a visual alert that FrameMaker files and RoboHelp files are out of synch. A single command from within FrameMaker can update an entire suite of help files.
Translation only needs to occur once, with the FrameMaker source documents. Any changes to FrameMaker are swiftly updated to the derivative RoboHelp files as well.
Best practices to optimize your RoboHelp documents for translation
There are many best practices to optimize your RoboHelp documents for document translation, but here are some of the top techniques to take advantage of:
- Remove Extraneous Project Files (Targets, Topics, TOCs, Etc.)
- Don't Embed Text in Images
- Simplify Conditioned Text: Don't apply more than one condition tag to a single sentence.
